Bendigo & Adelaide Bank Enterprise Bargaining Negotiations continue

Union rights

Recognition of the role of workplace representatives, allowing for reasonable time to assist members and to be trained is critical to the success of the role within workplaces. FSU and ASU have tabled clauses which recognize these roles in a similar way to the recognition of other roles such as health and safety representatives and fire wardens – awaiting Bendigo’s response

Individual Flexibility Arrangements (IFA’s)

The Fair Work Act dictates that an IFA clause must be included in any new Agreement. These clauses give a capacity for individual arrangements to be made and if used in large numbers can undermine the value of the collective agreement. FSU and ASU have proposed a clause that requires Bendigo to report on a regular basis about how many agreements are being entered into and in which business units – awaiting Bendigo’s response.

The next meeting will take place on September 27 and will be attended by a member of the bank’s senior executive. We expect to get responses to our proposals around the issues above, as well as the other crucial issues put forward earlier in negotiations such as salary increases, weekend loadings, workloads, staffing and relief.

In the meantime let us know what you have to say about negotiations so far and the issues that matter to you by emailing:

ASU members: dpayne@asu-sant.asn.au

Remember, the best terms and conditions can only be secured if Bendigo and Adelaide Bank staff has a strong collective voice. So pass this information onto colleagues who are not yet members of their Union and ask them to join and work with you to secure the best Agreement possible.
